This is where you register your local cleanup activities as part of the Clean Up East Asian Seas Campaign 2008. This way, your efforts will be part of regional and global initiatives. The Clean Up East Asian Seas Campaign 2008 is organized by the UNEP Coordinating Body on the Seas of East Asia (COBSEA) Secretariat and is part of the global and regional initiatives International Year of the Reef (IYOR), Clean Up the World (CUW), Ocean Conservancy´s International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) and Green Fins.

To be part of the Clean Up East Asian Seas Campaign 2008, your cleanup activities should be undertaken between World Environment day on 5^th of June and the Clean Up the World Weekend / International Coastal Cleanup Day on the 3^rd weekend in September.

Who can participate?

We encourage national and local governments, international organizations, private sector, NGOs, schools and other local organizations among COBSEA member countries to join the campaign by organizing individual local cleanup activities in their countries during 2008. The COBSEA member countries include Australia, Cambodia, People's Republic of China, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.

Report your data!

As a participating organization, you are requested to report the results from your cleanup activities to the UNEP COBSEA Secretariat using the OC ICC data collection cards. This is important in order to further improve the knowledge about marine litter in our oceans. Download the ICC data cards here. After the completion of your activity, send your ICC summary cards to the UNEP COBSEA Secretariat.

Participating Organization Agreement *
Please read carefully. By submitting this form you and your organization agree to: 1) Not hold the UNEP COBSEA Secretariat and their partner organizations liable for any injuries sustained by the participating organizations and their participants during their activity. 2) Manage and promote the Clean Up the East Asian Seas Campaign in a responsible manner, by considering factors such as the safety of participants, supervision at clean up sites, the proper disposal of waste and local laws and regulations in your country. 3) Review materials for participating organizations of the Clean Up East Asian Seas Campaign 2008 and adapt as appropriate according to the specific conditions of your activity, in a manner consistent with local laws and regulations. 4) Allow your contact details to be stored in our database and be used/shared with our partners, stakeholders and media for communication and promotional purposes. 5) Display the UNEP logo and the logos of our partners and sponsors only in promotional material for the purpose to promote your event and/or activities. 6) Only make representations on behalf of the UNEP COBSEA secretariat with written express permission from an authorised officer of the UNEP COBSEA Secretariat in Bangkok, Thailand. 7) Only translate Clean Up the East Asian Seas materials into other languages with express permission from an authorised officer of the UNEP COBSEA Secretariat in Bangkok, Thailand. 8) Warrant that the person submitting this agreement has the organizational authority to do so. The UNEP COBSEA Secretariat and its partners are not responsible, and do not accept liability, for any injury or loss sustained by any person in the course of the cleanup event and are not liable for the acts, omissions, negligence or fault of any person participating in the event.
